In December, Class XLIV was hosted by Fellow Preston Prince at Santa Clara County Housing Authority in San Jose for Design Thinking Day. The class chose to focus on the challenge of anti-immigrant scapegoating because it impacts everyone in different ways, and active leadership from Class XLIV Fellows could help create positive change.
Guest Faculty Member Jenny Niklaus facilitated the session Seeding Change in our Communities through Design Thinking engaging Fellows in design activities around the following questions:
- How might we become active leaders for inclusion and belonging to address immigrant scapegoating in our spheres of influence?
- How might we disrupt anti-immigrant narratives and promote a healthy multicultural democracy with respect for immigrants?
- How might we create spaces for learning and dialogue about immigrant experiences across the ALF network?
